- Lake Como, Italy tops the list of places British couples dream of saying ‘I Do’
- Italian locations dominate the rankings with four destinations in the top ten
- Two Spanish hotspots, Ibiza and Mallorca, also made the list, alongside Santorini, Malta, Bali and Paphos
If you’re planning a destination wedding, you’re not alone. New data reveals the top destinations British couples are obsessively searching for their dream wedding – whether for picture-perfect lake views, romantic vineyards, or cliffside sunsets.
The research, conducted by engagement ring specialists 77 Diamonds, analysed search data to determine which global destinations UK couples are most likely to consider when planning their summer weddings.
A list of 94 popular wedding destinations was created, and each was paired with 43 different search templates, including “wedding locations in [location]”, “wedding cost in [location]”, “[location] wedding packages price” and “best wedding hotels in [location]”. These results were combined for each location and ranked from the highest to the lowest number of searches.
Lake Como is the most searched-for wedding destination, with 5,575 average monthly searches across the UK. The Italian lakeside location, famous for its stunning scenery and celebrity weddings, receives 40% more searches than its nearest competitor.

Tuscany ranks second among the most popular wedding destinations, with 3,980 average monthly searches. The Italian countryside region, known for its rolling hills, vineyards and historic venues, continues to be a favourite for couples seeking a romantic setting.
Santorini in Greece claims third place, with 3,964 monthly searches on average. The distinctive, white-washed buildings and blue domes set against the backdrop of the Aegean Sea make this Greek island nearly as popular as Tuscany, with only 16 fewer monthly searches.
Spanish islands dominate the fourth and fifth positions, with Ibiza receiving 3,385 monthly searches and Mallorca attracting 3,191 searches. These Mediterranean destinations offer a mix of beach settings, rustic countryside venues, and a vibrant nightlife for those seeking a party-fueled wedding reception.
The island nation of Malta stands as the sixth most popular destination with 2,014 monthly searches. Its historic buildings, Mediterranean climate and English-speaking locals make it an accessible choice for British couples.
Italy appears again in seventh place, with the Amalfi Coast generating 1,448 monthly searches. The dramatic coastline with cliffside villages and azure waters continues to draw couples looking for a picturesque backdrop for their special day.
Sicily, Italy’s largest Mediterranean island, ranks eighth with 1,260 monthly searches. The destination offers ancient ruins, beautiful beaches and Mount Etna as potential backdrops for wedding ceremonies.
Bali in Indonesia is in ninth place, the only Asian destination in the top 10, receiving 1,177 monthly searches. The island’s tropical scenery, luxurious resorts, and relaxed atmosphere attracts couples seeking an exotic location.
Completing the top 10 is Paphos in Cyprus, with 1,134 monthly searches. Its combination of ancient historical sites, Mediterranean beaches, and established wedding industry makes it a practical choice for British couples.
Tobias Kormind, Managing Director of 77 Diamonds, commented on the findings:
“It is always a difficult decision when choosing your dream wedding destination. While many do get married locally in the UK, some Brits won’t settle for a wedding without sunshine and beautiful views in a different country.
“Our findings show that British couples continue to be drawn to the classic beauty and romance of Mediterranean destinations, with Italian locations clearly capturing the perfect wedding setting.
“It is no surprise that Lake Como tops the list, reflecting its status as both a celebrity favourite and a genuinely stunning location. A-listers such as Georgia Clooney and Amal Alamuddin, and Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, are just a few of many who’ve tied the knot in this luxurious destination. The fact that four Italian locations make the top 10 highlights the country’s enduring appeal for significant life moments.
“The data suggests that couples are primarily looking for a combination of guaranteed sunshine, a warmer climate, picturesque scenery, and that special atmosphere that comes with a destination wedding abroad.”
