If anyone can make Kelly Clarkson work up a sweat, it’s Oprah Winfrey.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Elisabeth Moss identified Winfrey as the celebrity fan of hers that she “can never get over” and “will never get over.”
“Like that’s one of those where you’re like, ‘I cannot believe she knows who I am,’” Moss said.
Clarkson echoed, “Isn’t that weird? Like my name is in your mouth.”
Moss teased, “She’s talking to me, and she’s looking at me, and she knows that she’s talking to me.”
Clarkson quipped, “She knows that I exist on planet Earth.”
After Moss recalled Winfrey “popping by with questions” about The Handmaid’s Tale during a cover photoshoot, Clarkson shared her own story of being starstruck by a phone call from the media star.
“Someone called me and said, ‘Oprah’s about to call you,’” Clarkson shared, noting that she initially thought it was a joke.
However, once the “Catch My Breath” songstress learned that Winfrey was indeed about to give her a ring, she seemingly had trouble catching her own breath, and teased to Moss and the Kelly Clarkson Show audience that she started pacing once the phone rang.
“I got such a workout from that call,” Clarkson said before sitting back down. “I remember my husband at the time was like, ‘Can you calm the hell down?’ And then I was like, ‘Don’t say anything stupid.’ I probably said something stupid. I was so nervous.”
Moss understood, “You probably blacked out completely.”
Clarkson agreed, claiming that she “ha[d] no idea what [they] talked about.”
“For a billion dollars, I don’t even remember why she called. I don’t even know why… I love that you know who I am,” she added. “But she is one of those people. For women, especially, like, looking up to a woman who really made such a big impact.”
While Moss noted that she “used to spend hours” watching Winfrey’s show, Clarkson offered up another of Winfrey’s feats.
“She got Mariah and Whitney in the same room,” she exclaimed of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston‘s joint 1998 appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. “I was like, this is powerful.”
Moss agreed, “She can do anything!”
