This week’s CBS Sunday Morning welcomed Bill Belichick — and the interview has generated a ton of chatter.

The 73-year-old NFL alum and author of The Art of Winning: Lessons from my Life in Football sat down with Tony Dokoupil for an interview that was released on Sunday, April 27, where they not only covered his new book, his discovery of Tom Brady, and his discomfort with the media, but also his relationship with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, as well as Belichick’s 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.

Belichick was put in the hot seat when asked about his exit from the NFL after 49 seasons, 24 of which were spent with the New England Patriots. Specifically, Dokoupil grilled Belichick about Kraft’s absence from his new book.

He explained, “Well, again, it’s about my life lessons in football. It’s really more about the ones that I experienced directly.”

After Dokoupil pointed out that Kraft is “not even in the acknowledgments section,” Belichick simply replied, “Correct.”

As for whether Belichick was “treated with dignity and respect” when Kraft let him go in January 2024, Belichick insisted it was “a mutual decision to part ways.”

The interview only got more uncomfortable when Dokoupil tackled Belichick’s buzzy relationship with Hudson, who is 49 years his junior. Dokoupil described Hudson as “a constant presence” during their interview, and inquired as to how Belichick deals with how “invested” the public is in their relationship.

“Never been too worried about what everybody else thinks,” he said. “Just try to do what I feel like is is best for me and what’s right.”

Viewers got a sneak peek of this after Dokoupil asked how the two met.

“We’re not talking about this,” Hudson chimed in from off-camera.

Dokoupil obliged, and also did Belichick a huge favor by not asking him about the giant hole in his sweatshirt.
