• Dublin dominates Ireland’s property search popularity with 17,855 average monthly Google searches – over 6,000 more than second-placed Limerick.
  • Limerick (11,434 searches), Wexford (10,404 searches), and Galway (10,232) complete Ireland’s top four most Googled areas for property.
  • Kildare records the lowest search volume among the analysed areas, with just 6,659 monthly Google searches.

A new study by relocation experts irishparcels.ie analysed Google search data to highlight Ireland’s most sought-after postcodes for property hunters.

According to the findings, Dublin is Ireland’s most searched-for location to buy property, with an average of 17,855 monthly Google searches.

The results show Dublin pulls in a massive 56% more searches than second-placed Limerick, which attracted 11,434 monthly searches on average.

Wexford landed in third place with 10,404 monthly Google searches, just nudging out Galway (10,232). Wexford’s beautiful coastal location and relatively lower property prices (compared to other Irish hot spots) have really boosted its popularity among those looking for homes outside the major urban centers.

Galway is in fourth place with 10,232 monthly searches, while Kilkenny finishes the top five with 9,573 monthly Google searches.

Sligo came in sixth place with 9,013 monthly searches. Wicklow, also known as the “Garden of Ireland,” came in seventh with 8,962 monthly Google searches. Its close proximity to Dublin makes it a popular choice for commuters.

Cavan took the eighth spot with 8,378 monthly searches, and Waterford and Clonmel complete the top ten with 7,869 and 7,703 monthly searches, respectively. Both locations offer property options that are easier on the wallet than Dublin or Galway.

2 Limerick 11,434
3 Wexford 10,404
4 Galway 10,232
5 Kilkenny 9,573

7 Wicklow 8,962

9 Waterford 7,869
10 Clonmel 7,703

At the other end of the scale, Ennis in County Clare landed 11th with 7,006 monthly searches. Even with its charm and amenities, it just missed the top ten most-searched postcodes for property buyers.

Carlow took 12th place with 6,751 monthly searches. The county’s central spot and improving transport links have kept interest steady in its property market, though it can’t quite keep up with the leaders.

Mullingar in County Westmeath landed in 13th position with 6,723 monthly searches. Its location, within commuting distance of Dublin, makes it a budget-friendly option.

Kildare saw the lowest search volume among all the areas analysed, with 6,659 monthly searches, despite being so close to Dublin.

Paul Stewart, Managing Director at irishparcels.ie, weighed in on the findings:

“This Google data reveals where property buyers are focusing their attention in Ireland. Dublin’s dominance is expected, but the strong showing from cities like Limerick and Wexford shows how regional growth has created new property hotspots.

“For people relocating within Ireland or moving to the country from abroad, understanding these property search trends provides valuable insight into which areas offer the best balance of demand, amenities, and potential value.”
